- Pharmacology
The aminoglycoside antibiotic framycetin is the primary ingredient of neomycin. Numerous gram-negative bacteria including Staphylococcus species are vulnerable, but not Pseudomonas. administered topically, usually in combination with steroids and other antimicrobials, to treat conditions affecting the skin, eyes, and ears. - Dosage & Administration
Cover the lesion with an appropriate dressing after applying a single layer. Change the dressing on wounds with a lot of exudate once a day. - Interaction
Selecting resistant microorganisms is less likely when gramicidin and framycetin are added together. - Contraindication
known lanolin or framycetin allergies, or in cases where organisms have a known framycetin resistance. - Side Effect
Potential ototoxicity wide regions, open wounds, and renal damage with extended usage. - Precaution
Allergy to Streptomyces-derived antibiotics. Large-scale burns - Storage Conditions
Keep out of direct sunlight and store in a cool, dry location. Keep everything out of children’s reach.
