How Test Strips Work

A lot of technology is packed into a little package in diabetes test strips. A very thin coating of gold is applied to the plastic strips. The circuit of the strip is created by cutting the gold into a design.

Additionally, the strip contains a chemical coating on one end. They convert the glucose in your blood into electricity by absorbing it like a sponge.

The meter receives an electrical signal from the strip. The electrical current’s speed is indicated by the number on the meter. A greater signal is indicated by higher blood sugar. Your blood glucose meter will display a larger value if the signal is stronger.
